Chelsea: Introduction

Way of Life is an oil on canvas mural created by Detroit artist George Fisher for the town of Chelsea, Michigan. Fisher received the commission in November 1937 and the painting of a rural family amid symbols of the agriculture and industries of Chelsea was installed in the newly-built post office in September 1938. In 2009, the mural was moved to the lobby of Chelsea’s new post office at 1101 S. Main St.
